You should not need a card to try Omi. Every account now gets a fresh free allowance every day, on the web and in version 1.5.48 of the desktop app. Use it for learning, small analyses and short cloud runs, and come back tomorrow for more. If you need more today, there are now several ways to earn it.
How the daily allowance works
- It renews every day. The allowance resets at midnight UTC. Unused usage does not pile up, so each day starts fresh.
- You can see it. A meter in the sidebar shows how much of today's allowance you have used, as a simple percentage.
- Nothing breaks when it runs out. A card above the message box tells you when it resets and gives you three choices: earn more, top up, or subscribe. Your work and your files stay exactly where they were.
- Short cloud runs are included. Free accounts can run short cloud cells, including R, inside the same allowance. Longer jobs and the cloud bio-tools need a paid plan or a top-up.
Earn more usage
Open Settings and go to Plan & usage. The Earn more section lists every way to add usage:
- Invite a friend. Share your invite link or code. When your friend verifies their email and starts using Omi, they get an extra day of free usage and you get about a day and a half. There is no limit on how many friends you can invite.
- Share a use case. Tell us how you use Omi on the use-cases page. If your entry is published and its email matches your verified account, you earn bonus usage.
- Cite us. If a paper of yours acknowledges Omicsboard Lab, send us the link from Settings. After we check it, you earn a larger bonus, and with your consent we can list the paper on our site.
Earned usage is spent after your daily allowance, so it never gets in the way of the free day, and it is shown on its own bar. It expires after 90 days, so use it while it is fresh.
Good to know: earning needs a verified email, so check your inbox for our link, or press Send verification email in Settings. While you hold a paid top-up balance, the daily allowance is paused and comes back automatically when the balance reaches zero. Every figure in the app is shown as a percentage, never as money.

- Omi stays on the plan. When your analysis plan changes, the checklist updates cleanly instead of stacking old and new steps, skipped steps are marked as skipped, and Omi keeps following the approved plan through a long session.
- Tools and versions in your reports. Omi now names the software it used, and your manuscripts and exported reports include a Software and versions table, so your Methods section is ready for reviewers.
