Three ways Omi works with you

Same app, same notebook — Omi adapts to what you're trying to do. Just tell it, and switch anytime.

Learn

Understand the science, not just get an answer.

  • Omi types & explains each line live
  • Voice-taught, on real data & references
  • Keep the notebook to practice later

Analyze

A real, publication-grade result — fast.

  • Runs your FULL dataset, not a subset
  • Explains the result, method & caveats
  • Export a notebook + report for your paper

Build

Turn a method or paper into a real tool.

  • Real multi-file software, not snippets
  • Dashboards & pipelines, tested live
  • Ships with Dockerfile / CI when ready

What Omicsboard Lab helps you do

Omi talks you through the work in chat while writing and running real code in the Lab Notebook next to it — here, comparing antimicrobial-peptide and resistance genes across six real sequences, with the figures rendered inline. Export the exact notebook and report for your paper.

AMR_Manuscript.pdfPaper

A real research paper

A full write-up Omi drafted from a real analysis — comparative genomics of antimicrobial-peptide & resistance genes, with abstract, methods, phylogeny, and findings. Scroll above to read it, or open the PDF in a new tab.

precision_medicine_tool.htmlBuild

A working, tested tool — try it live

A precision-medicine report generator Omi built from pharmacogenomics knowledge — pick a gene and variant (or upload a real VCF) and it generates a clinical drug-dosing report on the spot. It's live above; use it, or open it in a new tab.

One app to learn, analyze, build & discover

A live coding notebook with an AI partner who does real work — and is honest about what runs here vs. in the cloud.

Live Coding Notebook

Omi writes and runs real Python in an in-app notebook — you watch the code, the output, the plots, and the explanation appear together. No setup, no terminal, no copy-paste.

Research in Any Field

Bring data from genomics, transcriptomics & metagenomics, immunoinformatics, cheminformatics, or systems biology. Omi writes and runs the real analysis on your machine — a publication-grade result, sized to your hardware and explained in plain language.

Discover, Not Just Compute

Every result comes with what it means, the method behind it, and the honest caveats — grounded against the published record, with the next hypothesis to test. Omi turns computation into scientific direction, not just output.

Galaxy Cloud, Built In

Connect your free Galaxy account once. Omi submits gold-standard pipelines (e.g. DADA2) to Galaxy's cloud via the API — no clicking through the website — and pulls the results back here.

Real Data & Literature

Fetches sequences and runs from NCBI / ENA / SRA, searches the literature (Europe PMC + OpenAlex), and pulls public data (WHO, World Bank, NASA, GBIF, Ensembl, UniProt) — never invented.

Proven on Real Data

Validated workflows against real reference databases — 16S taxonomy vs NCBI & SILVA, resistance & virulence vs CARD & VFDB, plus variant calling, pan-genomics, and phylogenetics. No toy datasets, no fabricated results.

Build Real Tools

Goes beyond snippets: complete software, interactive dashboards, and pipelines — and authors Dockerfiles, Nextflow/Snakemake, and CI when you're ready to deploy.

Voice Teaching

Omi talks you through the work out loud as it types — like a senior scientist narrating beside you. Interactive figures zoom & pan, and export as PNG or PDF.

Private by Design

Everything runs in a Python notebook on your machine; your files are read straight from disk and never uploaded. Only your chat goes to the AI — your raw data stays yours.

Built for Real Computational Science Work

Questions answered

Is the app really free to download?

Yes. Omicsboard Lab is free to download and install, and your first full project is on us — no card needed to start. After that, a simple plan (Pro $15/mo or Power $30/mo — also available in Naira) keeps it going and unlocks Omi's premium voice teaching, with a transparent usage allowance you can always see.

How does the plan work?

It's a flat monthly subscription, not a per-question meter. Each plan includes a generous, visible voice allowance. You'll get a friendly heads-up as you approach it — and if you reach it, voice simply pauses while text keeps working for free, so you're never locked out. Wait for the monthly reset or move up a tier. No surprise charges.

Does my genomic data get sent to the cloud?

No. Omi reads your files (FASTQ, CSV, VCF, count matrices) straight from your disk and works on them in a notebook on your machine. Only the text of your conversation goes to the AI. Your raw data is never uploaded — unless you choose to send a step to your own Galaxy cloud account.

What operating systems are supported?

Omicsboard Lab runs on Windows 10 and 11 (64-bit). macOS and Linux are on the roadmap. The live Python notebook and a full scientific stack are set up for you on first launch — no pre-installation.

Do I need to know bioinformatics to use it?

Not at all. It's built for everyone from first-time learners to senior scientists. In Learn mode Omi teaches line by line and out loud; in Analyze mode it just delivers the result and explains what it means.

What can it actually run — and what about R tools?

The local notebook is Python, with the full scientific stack (BioPython, pandas, scanpy, scikit-bio, PyDESeq2, and more — auto-installed on demand). For the R-only gold standards (DESeq2, DADA2) and heavy/large jobs, Omi runs them on your own free Galaxy cloud account via the API and brings the results back into the notebook.

How is this different from using ChatGPT for bioinformatics?

ChatGPT gives you code to copy-paste. Omi actually writes and runs the code on your real data, reads the output, fixes its own errors, produces the figures, and explains the result — a working analyst, not a code generator.
